
To bank on the increasing popularity of electric cars and SUVs in India, a number of automakers are now gearing up for the launch of affordable EV SUVs in India. Today we are presenting you with the list of the upcoming affordable EV compact SUVs in India. So without any more wastage of your time, let's jump right into the details.

The first electric vehicle from Toyota in India will be the Urban Cruiser Ebella. It is expected to make its debut in the coming months. The Ebella will be based on the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and its price is expected to be in the range of Rs 16 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
The SUV will get a completely different exterior styling from the e Vitara. It will get sleek LED headlamps, eyebrow-style DRLs, revised bumpers and a new LED light bar at the rear. It will also feature 18-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels and body cladding.
On the inside, the Ebella will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, JBL audio system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and Level 2 ADAS. It will be based on the Heartect-e platform and will come with two battery pack options and offer a 49 kWh battery with 144 bhp and 440 km range and a 61 kWh battery with 174 bhp and 543 km range.

MG will soon replace the ageing ZS EV with the all-new S5 EV later this year. It is believed that it will be priced in the range of Rs 22 lakh to Rs 28 lakh. The S5 EV will be larger than the ZS EV and will be based on the Modular Scalable Platform. It is expected to come offered with 49 kWh and 64 kWh battery packs and offer a claimed range of 500 km.
As for the power, it will make around 167 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Its list of features will include a 15.6-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Level 2 ADAS and many others.

Kia is also preparing to launch the electric version of the Syros SUV in India. It is expected to launch in the coming months. It will be based on the K1 platform shared with the Hyundai Inster EV. Compared to the standard ICE model, its design changes will include a charging flap on the front quarter panel, revised front and rear bumpers, neon green brake calipers, updated roof rails, ADAS radar and 360-degree camera.
On the inside, it is expected to feature dual 12.3-inch screens, touch-based AC controls, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats, V2L and V2V charging and others. Its battery pack options could include 42 kWh and 49 kWh units and the real-world claimed range will be around 369 km. Pricing of the Syros EV could be in the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

Hyundai is also currently developing a compact electric SUV based on the globally sold Inster EV. It will become Hyundai’s second mass-market EV in India. This SUV will use the E-GMP K platform and is expected to offer a 42 kWh battery and a 49 kWh battery with a real-world range of around 369 km, same as the Syros EV. Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh and launch could take place around the festive season of this year.

Skoda recently revealed the Epiq EV globally and it is believed that it will be launched in India as well. The Epiq EV is Skoda’s most affordable global EV and boasts the new Modern Solid design language which features a gloss black Tech Deck face, T-shaped lighting elements, aero alloy wheels and heavy body cladding.
It will measure 4,171 mm in length and offer a segment-leading boot space of 475 litres and an additional 25 litres of frunk storage. Its features will include a 13-inch touchscreen, ambient lighting, Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, floating centre console and connected car tech. As for the battery pack, it will be offered with a 38.5 kWh battery with up to 310 km range and a 55 kWh battery offering 440 km range.

VinFast’s smallest EV for India will be the VF3 and it is expected to be priced between Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. This compact 2-door SUV will boast an 18.64 kWh battery and offer 43.5 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque and a 215 km claimed range. Its list of features will include a 10-inch infotainment screen, Wireless smartphone connectivity and many others.

The VF5 will sit above the VF3 and compete against the Tata Nexon.ev in India. It is expected to make its debut by the festive season of this year. It is expected to get a 29.6 kWh battery offering a range of 268 km and a 37.23 kWh battery with a 326 km range. As for features, it will be offered with a 7-inch digital cluster, 8-inch infotainment system, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sunroof, voice commands and a PM 2.5 filter along with others.

Honda is also currently testing the new 0 Alpha EV in India. It will be a ground-up electric SUV built on Honda’s new EV architecture. It is expected to offer 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs and a real-world range of 450 to 500 km. Its design highlights will include futuristic boxy styling, connected LED DRLs, 19-inch aero wheels, flat floor cabin and a hexagonal steering wheel. The Honda 0 Alpha EV is expected to be priced between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 25 lakh.

The Bridger EV sub-compact SUV will become a game changer for Renault in India. It is expected to be launched in 2027. The Bridger EV will be based on the RGMP platform and offer 35 kWh and 55 kWh battery packs. As for the range, it will be around 500 km with the larger battery. It will also boast 200 mm ground clearance and a large 400-litre boot. Pricing of the Bridger EV is expected to be around Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh.

Based on the same platform as the Renault Bridger, Nissan will also be launching its sub-compact SUV in India. It will boast the same battery pack options as the Bridger and will be launched in the same range as the Renault SUV. It will, however, most likely be launched by the end of 2027 or by early 2028.

The French automaker Citroen is also gearing up for the launch of a more affordable base variant of the eC3 EV called the Live variant and the facelift of the eC3. The base variant is expected to offer a 29.2 kWh battery pack and a claimed range of around 320 km. Pricing will be around Rs 10.5 lakh.
