
The Toyota Fortuner is the undisputed leader of the full-size SUV segment in India. It has a cult-like following and no matter how much it's price increases people still buy it. Now if you are someone who thinks that what other options will be in the full size SUV segment in the coming period then you have arrived at the tight spot. Here are the details of the upcoming Toyota Fortuner Rivals in India.

MG is positioning the Majestor India's first D+ segment SUV. It will be larger than the Toyota Fortuner as it will measure over 5 metres in length. This SUV will be launched later this month and bookings have already been open. As for the deliveries they will begin shortly after launch around May. Pricing of the Majestor is expected to be around Rs 45-50 lakh.
In terms of the design it will boast a strong, imposing boxy SUV design including a massive ‘Mozaic Matrix’ front grille, vertically stacked three-pod LED headlamps, LED DRLs and connected LED tail lamps, rugged front bumper and bold body cladding. It will also get large 19-inch alloy wheels and twin exhaust tips as well.
On the inside, the Majestor will be leagues ahead of the Fortuner as it will offer a much more premium and tech-loaded cabin. Feature list will include a three-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats memory function, ventilation, massage function, panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and a 12-speaker JBL audio system.
Apart from these it will also get an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, powered tailgate, Level 2 ADAS suite. Safety features will include six airbags, four disc brakes and front & rear parking sensors. Power will be generated by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine making 213 bhp and 479 Nm of torque and will come mated to an 8-speed torque. It will also get a proper 4x4 hardware setup including three differential locks, 10 terrain modes and crawl control with selectable speeds.

Volkswagen will be soon launching a lower spec non R-Line version of its flagship SUV the Tayron R-Line in India. It will be a more affordable variant aimed to undercut Fortuner pricing. It design will be similar to R-Line and its changes will include, fewer sporty elements and will be more subtle in the terms of overall styling.
On the inside, it will remain almost the same as the Tayron R-Line. However the feature list is expected to be slightly toned down. Coming to the powertrain, it will also remain the same. Currently the R-Line variant model gets a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine (EA888) which comes paired with the 7-speed DSG gearbox. We can expect a slight lower state of tune for this SUV. As for the pricing it will be around Rs 42-45 lakh.

JSW Group will be soon launching its own car brand in India and it will be called JSW Motors. The first product which will be launched by the company will be the Jetour T2 plug-in hybrid SUV and it is expected to launch in 2026. This SUV will be brought as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units and will be assembled at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant.
The Jetour T2 plug-in hybrid will feature a distinctive boxy and rugged SUV design with strong off-road inspired proportions. On the inside, it will get a very premium and tech-heavy cabin layout. Internationally it is sold as both a 5 and 7-seater. However, India will likely get the 7-seater version.
The main highlight of this SUV will be its plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) setup. It will include a 1.5-litre petrol engine and two electric motors. Along with these there will be a battery pack of 26.7 kWh making a combined power of 375 bhp and 610 Nm torque making it one of the most powerful SUVs. It will be launched later this year and pricing will be around Rs 40-45 lakh.

Currently the Skoda Kodiaq is only offered with a petrol engine. However, later this year the company will be launching the Kodiaq with the diesel engine option. It will be aimed at buyers which prefer premium diesel SUVs. The Kodiaq diesel will be brought as CBU (Completely Built Unit) and will be sold in limited numbers only.
There will be no major design changes and it will retain current-gen premium and elegant styling. Its main highlight will be its engine which will be the time tested 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. This motor will make around 198 hp and 400 Nm of torque and come mated with a 7-speed DSG automatic. It will also offer an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system as well. Pricing of the Kodiaq diesel will be around Rs 45-50 lakh.

The last Toyota Fortuner rival on this list is the performance-oriented version of the Kodiaq which will be the Kodiaq RS. This SUV will target buyers looking for sporty alternatives to Fortuner. On the outside it will boast gloss-black accents, RS-specific sporty bumper, illuminated grille, red brake calipers, and 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The Kodiaq RS will also get LED matrix headlights with advanced lighting tech and LED tail lamps with animated indicators. On the inside, it will get a very sporty looking all-black interior with contrast stitching. Powering this SUV will be a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine making 263 bhp and 370 Nm of torque and gets a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Other notable highlights will include an AWD system and it will be able to reach from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds. Its top speed will be 231 kmph and also feature a progressive (variable ratio) steering. Pricing of the Kodiaq RS will be around Rs 50-60 lakh.
