After testing the Taigun for months, it looks like Volkswagen is finally ready to launch the Taigun facelift in the Indian market. We have seen several test mules and almost production-ready versions of the updated facelift on our roads. We have now come across a video released by Volkswagen India where they tease the upcoming Taigun facelift along with the date of the official launch.
The video, as mentioned above, has been shared by Volkswagen on their X profile. The official launch of the Taigun facelift will take place on April 9, 2026. Based on the teaser images and videos available online, we have a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming Taigun.
The Taigun facelift will come with a revised front end. It will feature sleeker-looking headlamps that look similar to those found on bigger Volkswagen SUVs like the Tiguan and Tayron. The front grille of the SUV will also be revised. We expect to see a connecting LED bar along with an illuminated Volkswagen logo in the centre.
The bumper and the lower air dam on the SUV will also be revised for a fresh look. Coming to the side profile, the Taigun facelift is expected to retain the same design and silhouette as the outgoing model. We expect changes in the form of new alloy wheel designs here.

We do see roof rails in the teaser video, and the SUV is also expected to get a shark-fin antenna and an integrated roof spoiler for a clean look. As we move to the rear, we expect to see a few more changes. The tail lamps on the Taigun facelift are expected to retain the overall design, but we might see more LED elements like a connecting bar and an illuminated logo here as well. The bumper will also see minor tweaks to complete the look.
On the inside, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to come with a design similar to the current version. They might offer a different colour theme for a fresher look. In terms of features, we expect to see a panoramic sunroof, leatherette seats, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a large 10.25-inch driver display, a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and more. Volkswagen may also offer a rear seat massager function with the Taigun facelift.
Coming to the engine, the Taigun facelift will be offered with the same set of engine and transmission options as before. There will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that generates 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque. This engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a brand-new 8-speed automatic transmission.
This is the same as seen on the new Kushaq. The Taigun will also get a 1.5-litre TSI engine that generates 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. This engine comes with a 7-speed DSG. It remains to be seen whether Volkswagen will follow the same strategy as Skoda and offer a feature-loaded base variant at an attractive price tag.
