11:48 AM: The car is now on the stage. It looks much better than the model it replaces. The vehicle seen here is finished in Cherry Red.
11:45 AM: The new Taigun is available in nine colour options including two new shades- Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey.

11:43 AM: The two engine options have been retained- 1.0TSI and 1.5TSI, making 113hp and 178Nm, and 148hp and 250Nm. Like the Kushaq facelift, the 1.0TSI engine sees the addition of an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

11:41 AM: Other features include a better infotainment system, improved voice commands based on Google Automotive AI, improved air conditioning system, panoramic sunroof, rear windshield wipers and defogger as standard, 6-way adjustable front electric seats, ventilated front seats, and more. Overall, the feature list resembles that of the new Kushaq. Notably, the rear seat massage function is not offered here.
11:40 AM: Kohli is talking about the changes on the new Taigun. Visual changes are the same as the ones mentioned above. Inside, the design and layout remains largely unchanged. The feature list has been updated. The new Taigun gets a larger 10.25-inch digtial instrument cluster, and several other new features.
On the safety front, the new Taigun gets 40+ active and passive safety features.
11:39 AM: The exterior dimensions have been retained. But Volkswagen claims that smart packaging has improved the boot space.
Volkswagen is set to officially reveal the facelifted Taigun in India today. The update aims to keep the model competitive against newer rivals like the new Tata Sierra and the new Seltos. We have reached the venue and will be updating this thread with fresh information as and when they surface.

Volkswagen recently started commencing production of the new Taigun at its Chakan facility. The exterior design has already been revealed fully. Details of the interior design, features and mechanical changes remain unclear. We will get to know more about these in some time.
The design sees a notable evolution on the facelift. It now aligns more closely with Volkswagen’s global SUV lineup. The front fascia has been improved. It gets a new bumper with wide horizontal slats, sleeker LED headlamps, an illuminated Volkswagen logo and a connected light bar. The new Taigun also gets a new set of wheels and revised internals for its connected LED tail lamps. The rear bumper seems to have been refreshed as well. The interior design hasn’t been revealed officially yet.
April 9, 9:00 AM: We have landed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and are now on our way to the venue. Volkswagen has chosen to host this event at the JW Marriot in Sahar. This luxury hotel is close to the airport- hardly a kilometre or so.
April 9, 9:10 AM: We have reached the hotel. The event is set to start at 11:30 am.
9:15 am: After completing our registration process, we are now moving into the venue. Volkswagen appears to have taken this event quite seriously. The venue looks grand and the company has even put a lineup of all SUVs that it has brought so far to India- almost all.
11:15 am: Here’s a quick glance at the SUVs that have been showcased. Six SUV models are her- the Tiguan, Tiguan R Line, Tiguan Elegance (the facelift), Tiguan AllSpace (seven-seater), T-Roc, and the mighty Toureg. Interestingly, all of these were CBUs. Interestingly, the Tayron R Line is missing from the lineup- likely because it isn't a CBU.
11:31 AM: The event has started. After welcoming the guests and media, the host has now called VW’s brand director, Nitin Kohli to the stage.
11:35 AM: Kohli is now talking about how Volkswagen's journey in India has so far been. He says that the customer experience has had a lot of improvement in the past few years. The touchpoint and retailer network have also improved.
11:33 AM: The brand director says that in every quarter, there will be a 'product action' in India, from Volkswagen. The carmaker seems to be plotting a larger growth plan here.
11:36 AM: As part of its effort to improve customer engagement, Volkswagen India even took a group of its SUV customers to Ladakh, recently.
11:37 AM: Kohli says that the Taigun contributed to 90% of the brand's total SUV volumes (which is around 1,00,000 units since 2020) and believes that the facelift is central to their SUV journey here.
