Volkswagen India, which operates as Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL), has commenced the production of the Taigun facelift in India. It will be produced in Volkswagen’s Chakan Plant near Pune, Maharashtra. Just before the official release of this SUV on April 9th, it was fully revealed, showing the updates on the outside. The company will officially commence the bookings for the Taigun facelift on April 9.
The new Volkswagen Taigun facelift will be produced at the Škoda Auto Volkswagen India’s (SAVWIPL) manufacturing facility in the Chakan plant, which is a massive plant spanning over 576 acres. It is approximately 70 percent automated, and it has been equipped with over 325 robots. The recently launched Skoda Kushaq facelift and other models such as Virtus, Slavia, Kylaq, and others are also produced in the same plant.

Along with the production for the Indian market, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India will produce the Taigun facelift for other international markets as well. Recently, a video of a left-hand drive Taigun GT facelift was also shared online. Along with the Taigun facelift, the above-mentioned models are also produced for export as well. Since 2021, SAVWIPL has managed to produce over 1.43 lakh units for exports.
This time around, the Tiagun has been given a much-needed update, as it has only been receiving some minor updates since its launch in September 2021. The new 2026 Taigun facelift, as can be seen in the images shared by Volkswagen, is finished in a new green shade. It has also been given a set of new and sleeker-looking LED headlights.

Like a number of other new SUVs in the market, Volkswagen has given the Tiagun facelift a connecting LED light bar in the front. What will set it apart is that the Volkswagen logo at the front will also be illuminated. Additionally, the front bumper has also been revised and now looks more aggressive. The green Taigun seen in the image is the GT variant, as it has blacked-out elements.
The standard model will be getting chrome elements on the front bumper, side, and rear bumper. Speaking of side and rear, on the side we can note that the new model will be getting a set of new 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels (GT) and diamond-cut alloy wheels (standard). Apart from the wheels, the overall silhouette and styling remain the same.
As for the rear, the recently spotted left-hand drive model showed new LED taillights with revised internals. The rear bumper has also been changed, and the GT variants will get blacked-out elements. Meanwhile, the standard model will get chrome elements. Overall, the new Taigun facelift is an evolutionary model instead of being a revolutionary one.

Although the complete interior design will be revealed on April 9th, it has been reported that the new Taigun facelift will be offered with a new color scheme for the cabin and a few new features, just like its cousin Skoda Kushaq facelift.
These will include a new and bigger 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, a panoramic sunroof, new ambient lighting, powered front seats with ventilation, and an AI assistant, along with others. It will most likely also be offered with a rear massage function.

As for the powertrain options, the new Volkswagen Taigun facelift will be offered with the same 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol, three-cylinder motor, which makes 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque. However, this time around, the 6-speed torque converter automatic will be replaced by the AISIN 8-speed automatic gearbox. The 6-speed manual gearbox will be the standard transmission.
The 1.5-litre TSI EVO, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine will also be offered, which makes 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. However, it will now only be offered with the 7-speed DSG gearbox. Sadly, no manual gearbox option will be available for enthusiasts. As for the pricing, the Taigun facelift is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 11–19 lakh.
