The Volkswagen Virtus is one of the most popular mid-size sedans in India. However, since its launch back in 2022, it has only received a few minor updates and a ton of “Limited Editions.” However, the German automaker is now finally gearing up for the launch of the Virtus mid-life refresh model. This has been confirmed by the latest test mule of this sedan, which was spotted testing on public roads.
In this short spy video, we can note that a red-colored Virtus facelift was being driven on a public road near Pune. This particular test mule was seen with camouflage at the front and the rear, suggesting that it will be a thorough refresh of the front and rear end of this sedan. It can be seen that the side profile did not have any coverings; however, the dashboard was seen with a black cover.

Going into the details of what has been seen, we can note that the front grille, lower portion of the bumper, and the bonnet have all been completely masked off. The headlights also had half camouflage. Most likely, the headlights will get revised internals, and the front bumper will be slightly different. As for the bonnet and fenders, they appear the same as the current model. Like the Taigun, the facelifted Virtus will also most likely be offered with an illuminated Volkswagen logo at the front.

Moving to the profile, we can observe that this particular test mule was equipped with a set of similar-looking 16-inch black alloy wheels as the current model. Also, the overall silhouette, shoulder line, and window line have all been kept the same. It can also be noted that this vehicle has all four disc brakes.
Soon after this, the video then shows the rear end, which is also fully covered in camouflage. Most likely, it will be getting a set of revised LED taillights and a new rear bumper. As can be seen in the clip, this particular test mule is equipped with twin exit exhaust which means that it is the 1.5-litre TSI GT variant.

From the video, we can observe that the dashboard was covered by a cover, and only the touchscreen infotainment system was visible along with the steering wheel. However, it appears that the same 10.1-inch touchscreen offered in the current model will be offered in the upcoming Virtus facelift. Apart from this, not much of the interior can be seen in the video.
However, it has been reported that the Virtus and the upcoming Skoda Slavia facelift could both get a panoramic sunroof, a bigger 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, rear massaging seats, ventilated front seats, and powered front seats. Apart from these, the Virtus will most likely also get new upholstery color options as well.

In terms of the powertrain options, the Volkswagen Virtus facelift will continue to offer the same 1.0- and 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engines. The former will make 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque and will be offered with the 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, instead of the 6-speed torque converter automatic,
like the newly launched Kushaq facelift and the upcoming Taigun facelift, it will be offered with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol, which makes 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque, will be offered with only the 7-speed DSG gearbox. The 6-speed manual gearbox option has been discontinued. Pricing of the new Virtus facelift is expected to be in the range of Rs 11 lakh to 19 lakh, and launch is expected to take place in the second half of this year.
