Buying a discontinued car in India does not automatically mean higher risk or painful ownership. There are cases in which used cars bring terrific value. Here are 4 now-discontinued sedans that you can buy used, and use without hassles in 2026.

The Honda City enjoys immense acceptance in India. It is popular even in the used car space. Multiple generations of the City have been on sale in India. However, not all of them are equally popular in the used-car market. Newer, more reliable, accessible options enjoy higher demand than older ones.
In fact, the early generations are available for very cheap prices. Even though Honda engines are reliable in general, it is advisable to pick a newer version, as souring spares for first and second generations can be more difficult that those for newer ones.
The safer bet is to go for well-kept units from the 2015 era. In other words, the fourth generation City. These typically trade between Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh. Getting spares for these cars is not difficult at all. Since the City is still on sale (although in a much newer avatar), getting service support is easy as well. This sedan has over the years, sold a lot of units in India. This large user base ensures easy access to both genuine and aftermarket parts.
Ride quality is something that attracts a lot of people to the City. Brand image is another reason to buy this car. The nameplate itself enjoys solid recognition in the mid-size sedan space.

Back in the day, the Toyota Corolla was in good demand. It is often associated with reliability, durability and hassle-free ownership. We have come across instances in which Corolla owners have driven their cars for lakhs of kilometres without major issues or replacements. Even in the used car space, Corollas find a lot of buyers.
The Corolla was discontinued in 2020. Pre-owned units typically retail in the range of Rs 1.2 lakh - 12 lakh. Of course, these include old, high-mileage models as well. It is advisable to go for the last generation that was on sale here, as it used to come with a well-equipped, comfortable cabin. Both petrol and diesel engines used to be offered on the Corolla. Ride quality was also one of its strengths. Solid old-school Japanese engineering and Toyota’s dependable service centre network make it one of the safest discontinued sedans to buy.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, discontinued in April 2025, is still a sensible option for those looking fro an affordable, spacious and comfortable sedan. Pre-owned units are competitively priced. Those from the 2015 era typically trade between Rs 4-7 lakh. The Ciaz also benefits from Maruti Suzuki’s unmatched service network.
In its early days, the Ciaz used to be available with both petrol and diesel engines. Later models came with a 1.5L petrol engine which was known for its smoothness and dependability. The diesel engines (one sourced from Fiat and the other developed in-house) that were on sale previously had a strong reputation for fuel efficiency.
Low maintenance costs, easy parts availability, and the fact that a large number of units have already been sold in India- all add to the acceptance of this sedan.

Buyers seeking a premium, technology-rich sedan with a strong petrol engine can choose the Hyundai Elantra. The final generation, launched in 2020, used to come with a strong 2.0L petrol engine. It was, however, on sale for just two years here. It typically sells for Rs 12- 16 lakh. Older models sit in the range of Rs 7-11 lakh. The final generation in this case, offers good value, as the engine itself is reliable. This petrol engine, however, is not the best in terms of fuel efficiency. The Elantra also offers good ride quality.
In the case of Elantra, buyers should approach units with high odometer readings with caution, as there are high chances of suspension wear. Since the Elantra is a global brand and due to Hyundai’s solid presence in the country, sourcing parts is hassle-free.
